Mrs. Chapman

Stephanie Chapman is in her 7th year of teaching.  Mrs. Chapman was born in Bryan, Texas, but she grew up in Birmingham and attended school in Shelby County. 

Mrs. Chapman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Alabama. During her time at UA she received many honors including secretary of the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference, principal clarinetist in the Wind Ensemble, and Drum Major of “The Million Dollar Band”.  Mrs. Chapman’s professional affiliations include National Association for Music Education, Alabama Music Educators Association, and the Alabama Bandmasters Association.

Prior to coming to Pelham, Mrs. Chapman was the director of bands at North Jefferson Middle School (NJMS) in Kimberly, AL for six years.  In 2016, she was named North Jefferson Middle School’s “Teacher of the Year”.  While at NJMS, Mrs. Chapman’s responsibilities included Beginner Band, Intermediate Band, Advanced Band, and Jazz Band.  Her bands consistently received superior ratings at Alabama’s Music Performance Assessments.  In May 2016 and April 2017, the NJMS Bands were awarded the Best Overall Concert Band at the Music in the Parks Festival in Atlanta, GA.  In addition to these awards, they received the Esprit De Corps award at the May 2016 festival.

Aside from teaching, Mrs. Chapman is a private lesson instructor and a clarinetist for the Alabama Winds community band.  Mrs. Chapman resides in Hoover with her husband Nathan and two children, David (4) and Anna (newborn).
